One year on

With all this talk of death, it's good to celebrate something life-affirming. Tonight I've just been out with friends celebrating the fact that our friend, Jill (second on the right with her husband, Jonny), is still alive.

This time last year she was in intensive care having been run over by a motorbike when she was out running. Hours later she was flown to a hospital in Bangkok where she was treated for a brain injury and various breaks, bumps and bruises.

Her recovery has been a slow process but she's doing much better now. And so this evening we were celebrating over G&Ts, cheesy 80s songs and chips. A great night.
