Balloons
This was going to be a post about how flat and subdued today's been. A small insight into a boring day. But then I remembered life in the wider world and the non-boring events going on in Phnom Penh today. Obama coming to town being one of them.
So now for something completely different......
Balloons. Blocked roads. Closed schools. The ASEAN summit. Deals with China. The endorsing of a Human Rights Declaration. A non-violent protest. A scrum of international media. Riot police. It's all been happening.....
The most I've seen of it though is a series of photos showing the protest by communities who've recently been evicted from their land and homes by developers.
It started where some used to live - Boeung Kak Lake (BKL) - but didn't get any further due to the large turn-out of riot police.
So instead of getting closer to the Council of Ministers building where the summit is being held, not far from BKL, they released balloons to get their message across...
... and made houses in the sand:
No violence was reported.
And no signs of boredom either.
