Quartet
Last night I watched the film "Quartet". It was recommended by a friend so I thought I'd give it a go. And twas good. Great cast, wonderful location and loads of classical music if you like that kind of thing.
The plot's a bit like "Fame" - full of ego-spats, bullying, flirting, flouncing, romancing, failing and triumphing. Only instead of a Performing Arts High School in New York, it's set in a care home for former high-brow musicians and opera singers in Berkshire (or somewhere like that). Not so much a frantic flash-mobbing of leg-warmers and lycra but a heady steady riot of pearls and pashminas.
Very funny Gilbert and Sullivan "Three little maids" bit by three glammed-up octagenarians. Good heartwarming ending. And a surprisingly moving rap in the middle.
Just the boost of Britishness needed in the midst of a streaming cold.
