Children at risk
I was going to write this post last night but was flagging and wanted to do it more justice than a quick splurge at the end of a blogging mega-gush.
Because at the heart of this whole Nepalese adventure was the fact that we were there to stand with fellow workers involved in the protection, care and advocacy of children at risk. And to equip them in using the Good Touch Bad Touch flipchart which has the potential of reaching thousands of children across Nepal, empowering them to look after themselves and keep safe from abuse.
So on reflection, it was a real honour to be there. And among a bunch of people so committed to fighting for children in a place, like Cambodia, where they are so easily overlooked and ignored.
So spare a thought for Dhan Raj (on the right) who heads up CarNet (Children at Risk Network) Nepal:
And all the volunteers and staff who work with him. Like Amrita in the photo who did an amazing job organising the training day. And this seemingly unassuming guy:
A husband, father of small kids and pastor who works tirelessly co-ordinating Celebrating Children courses across Nepal, advocating for children at risk and inspiring others to get involved. He was only small but the light that shone from him was massive.
It's been a while since I've written a song but I started writing one last night when I was thinking about all at CarNet. So I'll finish this now and type up the lyrics in the next and final post of this Nepalese saga....
