I love this picture. It's of Mum and Dad when they came to visit a couple of years ago and we went to a village not far from Phnom Penh. At the time, some friends and a couple of families there were running a fair-trade business making tiles. So we went to see how things were going and just hang out for a while.
It was a great day. Mum and Dad's favourite of the whole trip as it turned out.
I particularly love this picture though as it sums up so much of them. A down-to-earth joy and playfulness which I'm glad to have inherited and which has seen me through many a bonkers and boring day here.
And it shows something of their warmth and easy love for others too.
On Friday I spent the afternoon with a couple who've worked abroad for over 40 years and so enjoyed listening to their stories and batheing in the relief of their clear-as-crystal wisdom.
So this post is simply an ode to the oldies!! In appreciation of all that they've battled through and come out the better for. So glad to have that example. And to be cheered on so faithfully now. XX
