Seeing
Sometimes you can go for days here without really seeing things.
Another bloke with his leg blown off by a landmine shuffles past. And I'm thinking about where to go for lunch.
Another woman stands by begging with a baby on her hip. And I'm working out the cost of a coffee and a curry.
And then at church we're singing "Break my heart for what breaks your's, Lord..." and I almost don't want to sing it. It's just too dangerous a lyric to sing and really mean it.
Especially after days like today.
This morning I found myself on a spontaneous visit to a community who live above a sewer. A friend asked me to go for a brief recky before she brought back a team later in the day.
She used to work there and knows some of the families. So whilst she chatted, I larked with the kids and they took some photos....
Glimpses of life through their eyes. Just normal stuff. Home, friends, hug. Helping me re-connect eyes and heart and see things I might easily have missed.
