Floods
Today it's been chucking it down. And the skies are still pouring now. Only been out once to top up on bottled water (slight irony there...) and the rest of the time, holed up in my room.
Have been thinking a lot about the folk living further up the river and wondering how they're doing. Cycled past them on Saturday on a redeeming trip to the Tonle Sap (see "Foray" post - this time I made it thanks to a better bike, mild weather and good company).
By then there was already some flooding.......
.....so it's concerning to think how things might be now.
Just read on the BBC news website that the Mekong river (which splits the country from the Laos border in the north to the Vietnamese border in the south-east) has burst its banks in various places and whole communities have had to up-sticks and move on to higher ground. And at least 30 people have died.
Also the government has warned that rains are likely to continue due to Typhoon Wutip making its way to Vietnam.
So please pray. Thanks.
